Snippets Alphabet Pt. 6, Finished And Tagging

with 4 comments

S is for -Soaps.  Bit of an addict here.  I started out watching Coronation Street, then added Emmerdale and finally Eastenders.  I watch Corrie and Emmerdale when they are on, but Sky+ just in case I miss an episode and I watch the Eastenders omnibus on Sundays.  That is also Sky+ ‘ed, should a Sunday be so full of activity that I don’t have time to watch that either.  As if.

T is for – Telephone.  I detest having to use the telephone, almost to a phobic degree.  Is there a phobia about using telephones?  Maybe it’s because I have trouble deciphering accents, I don’t know, but I’ll choose any other form of communication over it any time – any day.

U is for – Ugg Boots.  Enough is enough. Please just go away.  Should be Ugghh! boots.  😀

V is for – Valencia Oranges.  I simply love valencias.  Sweet, thin skinned and delicious.  Makes me want one now just thinking about them!

W is for – Walking.  I need to do more of it and have plans to start very soon.  Fingers crossed.

X is for –  Your guess is as good as mine.  Mulled this one over for hours, apparently I don’t “have” an X or if I do I’m totally unaware.  Does ‘X’ for hug count?  Write lots of those .  .  .  .  .

Y is for – Year.  Somehow they become just that bit shorter with each one.  Wonder how that works?  And why doesn’t your average 10 year old feel the same way?

Z is for – Again, I haven’t got a clue.  Don’t belive I even know very many words starting with a Z.  Need to broaden my horizons, lol.

And that’s it!  Whew!!  I’ll tag 3 other bloggers and see if they’re up for taking on the task – best of luck to them should they decide to have a go.

Do it any way you like, all in one go (brave person), one or two at a time, or any combination.  If your blog is about a specific topic/item you could do yours all about that topic or a mixture of on topic and personal.  Whatever you want to to, it’s totally up to you – Good Luck!  When you have finished your Snippets Alphabet, be it in a day or 6 months, please tag 3 other bloggers.

And the winners (?) are ↓

1)  Sam of Antics of a Cycling Cook

2) Karon of Dream Country Chat

3) Lizzie of Lizzie’s HomeWorld

Snippets Alphabet Pt. 5

P – Is for Persistence.  I’ve been known to take the definition to new heights.  I may get fed up and take a break, sometimes an long, extended one dependant on the frustration level, but I never, ever give up.

Q – Is for Quilting.  I’m almost certain that I’d like to do this, and other sewing, but space is at a very high premium here and don’t have the foggiest where I’d “set-up”.  If I decide for certain that it is really something I want to do, I’ll figure it out.  Somehow. (See ‘P’ above)

R – Is for Reading.  I used to love to read and always had at least one book on the go.  Then, for whatever reason(s), I slowed down and then pretty much quit all together.  I’m back at it again and enjoying it immensely.  It’s the taking the time to read, not the reading itself that I have a problem with.  I can find 50 other things to do (usually computer-wise), and put off opening a book, but when I do I ask myself why I’ve put off doing something I find so enjoyable.  A conundrum, it is.  🙂

Snippets Alphabet Pt. 4

Soldiering on, this is much more difficult than I thought 🙂

L – Is for Learning.  I enjoy learning new things, not in a ‘study and quiz’ sort of way, more in a discovery sort of way.  Going about my normal day and seeing or hearing something I’ve not experienced before.  I’m a most curious person, sometimes to a fault, and always want to know what/who/how/where/when/why.

M – Is for Music.  I love music.  There really is most every genre of music (sans a few that have been “invented” in the last few years) in my library and I enjoy using some of the internet services that serve to introduce you to new music and new artists.  There really is only one genre of music that I don’t care for at all, and own none of and that’s anything operatic.  Nothing against it, it just doesn’t do anything for me.

N – Is for Nicotine.  Yes, it’s true.  I am an addict.  More so than I have been at some times and less so than I have been at others.

O – Is for Olives.  Love olives.  Green olives only though – favourite stuffings are pimento or garlic.  Mmmmmm!  🙂

Snippets Alphabet Pt. 3

H – Is for Home. The place where I can just ‘be’ if that’s all I want to do. It’s where BH, love of my life, is. It’s where The Beast is. It contains wonderful things to read, eat, watch and use. It is, for the most part, a calm place and always a comforting place.

I – Is for Imagination. I possess a vivid one. I can, in my mind, create a ‘story’ from the most mundane of events and rather enjoy doing so. I have been known to write the odd poem type of thing, but I absolutely detest having to write dialogue that is more than just a few words, which is why I’ve not bothered to put this imagination to better use, at least in so much as putting these stories on paper. I’ll have to come up with a workaround like all stories in the third person. Hmmm . . . .

J – Is for Jamie Oliver. I began cooking as a teenager and I liked it. The best bit was always when someone ate something that I had cooked and really, truly enjoyed it. As I grew older I also began to enjoy the actual cooking and prep that preceded the finished product. Then I met Jamie Oliver, metaphorically of course. Not only could I cook and serve food, now (oh, the wonder of it!) I could bish-bash-bosh. I could “bung in”, ‘not be bothered’, do a ‘nice one’ and create gastronomical delights that are not only ‘lovely’ but more importantly, PUKKA! Yes! He has rocked my foodie world and I am eternally grateful.

K – Is for Krispy Kreme doughnuts. As far as I can tell my nearest is London. Too far away for we Norfolkians and I think I should start a petition for one nearer our shores. I, myself, could keep them in business until I was no longer able to roll to their door ……  God, I want a Glazed Cruller!!

Snippets Alphabet Pt.2

E – Is for Environment.  Do I think global warming is true?  Yes.  Do I think it’s a man made phenomenon? No.  What I believe, and I am no scientist, is that the earth has always gone through changes and cycles whether man roamed it or not.  I also believe that man’s presence and abuse has accelerated the natural changes and damaged the ecosystems as a whole.  Can anything we do stop the process?  No.  But I do think that being ‘kind’ to the earth and our environment can help slow the degradation, possibly even giving humans enough time to find somewhere else to survive.

F – Is for Forests.  I absolutely adore forests, the ‘woods’ and wooded areas.  Being on the rather barren North Sea shoreline only serves to enforce this.

G – Is for Guests.  As in the old question, “Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?”.  I’ll pick my top 5, but imagine there would be many more – so I’d have to rent a hall  😀   In no particular order they would be:  Henry David Thoreau,  Buddha (Buddha Shakyamuni / Siddhartha Gotama), Stephen Fry,  my maternal grandmother and Carl Gustav Jung.  Oh the conversations!  If the powers that be were with us, I’d like to think it would turn into at the very least a long weekend and at best an annual gathering.

Beginning My ‘Snippets Alphabet’

leave a comment »

Thanks to A Thrifty Mrs, today I’ll be starting a “snippets Alphabet”.  It seems a bit daunting at the moment, but let’s see how it goes!

A – This one is too easy.  Apple, as in Mac.  I am a confirmed and devoted Apple Fangirl.  I started out on computers about 10 years ago on a Windows machine.  My iMac was one year old just a couple of weeks before Christmas this year, and I have never, ever, looked back.  BH is a Windows man, so I’ve had to learn what there is to learn on my own and via forums etc. on the internet.  It’s hard to come up with just one or two why’s, but I simply enjoy using a Mac so much more than I ever did any Windows machine.

B – Is for Baking.  I do enjoy all sorts of cooking and creating in the kitchen, but I love baking.  I’ve often said that I would be ever so happy if I could just bake all day long – oh, and of course hire a few flunkies to do all of the clean up work needed in my wake!!

C – Is for Cry.  I haven’t had a really good cry in absolute ages, so I am well overdue.  The next one (due to this backlog) promises to be of monsoon proportions.  Tissues at the ready .  .  .  .

D – Is for Derbyshire.  My most favoured area of England, and a world away from our Nofolk coastline.  A dream home would be built somewhere within a wooded acre of this most lovely place 🙂
